2013 Video Competition
Share |
The WPC understands the power of video messages. We launched a video competition leading up to the WPC 2010 which was an outstanding success. You can still watch the two winning videos below on this page and most of the videos submitted are still on display on YouTube.

The WPC 2013 invites you to make a video about your experience with PD and to share your journey with the larger community on the Road to a Cure. The WPC works to advance science, promote community, and inspire hope and sees video as a way to achieve these aims. The individual paths each of us takes can come together at the WPC to build and/or reveal a greater understanding of Parkinson’s disease.

In this light, we invite and encourage members of the Parkinson’s community, including people with Parkinson’s, scientists, caregivers, rehab specialists, health activists, clinicians, doctors, family members, pharmaceutical representatives, Foundation staff, and others to share your story or stories about PD with the WPC community. Check out the videos submitted to the WPC 2013 Video Competition to date.

FILM CATEGORIES

Both categories open to anyone in the entire Parkinson’s community

General Parkinson’s category is simply an open category available for anyone who wishes to share his or her story in a funny, meaningful, mournful, or informational manner. The sky is the limit in this category.

Creativity and Parkinson’s category is for videos pertaining to the human virtue of creativity and how it impacts your life. Everyone uses creativity at different times and to varying degrees.  Recent research has shown that dopamine therapy can increase creativity, which may explain some of the observed phenomena of accelerated creativity in people with Parkinson's.. Your video could show how creativity helps in your daily life or it could show how your Parkinson’s has affected your view of creativity? This category just requires a cross-pollination of Parkinson’s and creativity. How you choose to showcase this is up to you.

The WPC 2013 Video exhibition will be hosted in the Parkinson’s and Creativity Theatre, an area in which videographers will be able to present their work and talk about their journey.   So, in addition to your telling us in which category you wish to submit your video, you will also be asked whether or not you would be willing to participate in one of the showcase sessions for a short period (generally about 15 minutes each) during the Congress.
